The Callicrate Cattle Company in St. Francis, Kansas, is using an Exeter to process cow bones into bone char to be used as a soil improvement product. Owner Mike Callicrate also operates Ranch Foods Direct (RFD), a retail meat operation in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Read the March 2015 RFD newsletter for an update about their integration of the Exeter retort into their overall efforts to transition to a multi-species regenerative agricultural model.

Cow bone char is comprised of approximately 35% phosphorous and 33% calcium, making it an excellent fertilizer.
